About Dawna
Dawna Rone, violinist and violist, has been teaching and freelancing in the central Ohio area since 2000. She currently teaches Suzuki Violin and Viola lessons through Suzuki Music Columbus where she teaches students from ages 3 through high school.
An active performer, she is the principal violist of the Westerville Symphony Orchestra and is a member of the Newark-Granville and Springfield Symphony Orchestras. She has also won positions with the Columbus Symphony Orchestra and the Huntington Symphony Orchestra. She is an associated faculty member of the Chamber Music Connection and has coached individual students, orchestras, and sectionals at many high and middle schools in the central Ohio area.
Dawna received a M.M. degree from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM), and served as teaching assistant to Masao Kawasaki and Dr. Catharine Carroll. She also holds her B.M. in Violin Performance from The Ohio State University. She attended the Aspen Music Festival for two summers where she was a Mentoring Fellowship student in 2007. Principle teachers and mentors have included Masao Kawasaki, Dr. Catharine Carroll, Steve Wedell, Michael Davis, Doug Locke, and Susan Locke.
Dawna lives in Gahanna with her husband Jeff, who is a singer, choir teacher, and worship leader. They enjoy spending their free time with the newest addition to their family, their son Elijah.
